LA SAFOR IN THE PALEOLITHIC SCENE OF VALENCIA

Mainly as a consequence of tradition in research, and also in part due to the possibilities that the abundance of caves offer for the preserving of archeological levels, a great part of the available information about the Paleolithic of Valencia comes from its central counties.

The older human rest of the Valencian territory have been documented

Cova de Malladetes
[Barx]
Some of the most important sites for the knowledge of the different periods of the Upper Paleolithec in the peninsular Mediterranean side are located in La Safor: Cova de Bolomor (Tavernes de la Valldigna), Cova de les Malladetes (Barx) and Cova del Parpalló (Gandia). Other sites have contributed data of relevant interest or are currently being excavated, which offers the possibility of a continuous renewal of knowledge.
